Our story

Coated hangar floor in Cleveland, MO

High Stakes Epoxy LLC was established with a clear aim: to give homeowners and businesses across the Kansas City region concrete coatings that are not only good-looking but built to last.

Tyler Wilms, a lifelong local and a dedicated craftsman, saw how badly the area needed a concrete coating contractor it could rely on. He assembled a team that shares his commitment to precision, to proper materials, and to leaving a customer satisfied.

From a small start we have grown into a recognised name in Kansas City epoxy flooring, with a reputation built on careful surface preparation and clean application. We think every concrete surface has potential, and we enjoy unlocking it.

Why High Stakes Epoxy LLC

Most failed epoxy floors were lost before the coating ever came out of the pail.

Coatings don’t fail because of the product. They fail because of what happened — or didn’t happen — to the concrete underneath. That’s the part we refuse to rush.

01 / Prep

We grind. We don’t acid etch.

Every floor gets mechanically diamond-ground to an open concrete profile before anything is applied. It’s slower, dustier and the single biggest reason a floor lasts fifteen years instead of peeling in two.

02 / Materials

Commercial-grade product on residential jobs.

The same coatings we put down in warehouses go into your garage. No thinned box-store kits, no shortcuts on mil thickness to make a number work.

03 / People

The owner is on your job.

High Stakes is owner-operated by Tyler Wilms out of Cleveland, MO. The person who quotes your floor is the person standing on it with a grinder.

04 / After

You get the cure schedule in writing.

When you can walk on it, when you can park on it, how to clean it, and what’s covered. Written down before we leave, not guessed at over the phone a week later.

How a job runs

Four steps, and you’ll know where we are in all of them.

Step 01

Free on-site estimate

We measure, check the slab for moisture and cracks, and lay out real flake and color samples in your space so you can see them in your own light.

Step 02

Diamond grind & repair

Old coating comes off, the slab gets ground to profile with dust-contained equipment, and cracks, pits and control joints get filled.

Step 03

Basecoat, broadcast, topcoat

Basecoat goes down, flake is broadcast to rejection where the system calls for it, then it’s scraped back and locked in under a clear topcoat.

Step 04

Walk-through & cure schedule

We walk the finished floor with you, hand over the written cure times and care instructions, and haul every bit of our mess out with us.

Our standard

Why these floors last

  • Coatings, not paint

Industrial resin systems bonded to prepared concrete. They do not peel off the slab the way a rolled-on garage paint does.

  • Preparation is the job

Every floor is mechanically ground and every old coating removed before anything is applied. Adhesion is decided here, not at the topcoat.

  • Built for traffic

The same systems go down in commercial shops and in home garages, so a residential floor is rated well past what a car and a floor jack ask of it.

  • Finishes you actually choose

Flake blends, metallics, dyes and solid colours — the colour and the flake mix are picked per floor, not from a fixed set of three.

  • Repair before resurface

Cracks, spalling and pitting are patched as part of the prep. An overlay hides a bad slab for a season; a repaired slab stays flat.

  • Free quotes

We measure the floor, look at the condition of the concrete, and give you a number. No charge, no obligation.
